Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in South Precinct in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,899 people or 16.6%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,591 people or 13.9%)
  • Education and Training (1,220 people or 10.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,710 people in total or 41.2% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Briar Hill employed 16.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 12.6% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of South Precinct and Briar Hill were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (13.9% compared to 8.6%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (6.3% compared to 4.1%)
