Dominant groups
Analysis of the qualifications of the Vietnamese speaking population in the City of Yarra in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a lower proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a higher proportion of people with no formal qualifications.
Overall, 36.4% of the Greater Melbourne speaking population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 58.9% had no qualifications, compared with 42.4% and 54.5% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
The major differences between qualifications held by the Vietnamese speaking population of the City of Yarra and Greater Melbourne were:
- A larger percentage of people with No qualifications (58.9% compared to 54.5%)
- A smaller percentage of people with Bachelor or Higher degrees (21.3% compared to 26.1%)
Emerging groups
The largest changes in the qualifications of the Greater Melbourne speaking population in the City of Yarra between 2016 and 2021 were in those with:
- No qualifications (-177 persons)
