Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Collingwood in 2021 compared to the City of Yarra shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 8.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 6.4% were one-parent families, compared with 14.5% and 6.0% respectively for the City of Yarra.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 40.0% compared to 35.1% in the City of Yarra while the proportion of couples without children was 27.5% compared to 26.8% in the City of Yarra.
