Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Lilydale in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (1,035 females or 23.8%)
- Professionals (935 females or 21.5%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (875 females or 20.1%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 2,845 females in total or 65.3% of the employed female resident population.
In comparison, Mount Evelyn employed 22.3% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; 22.6% in Professionals; and 18.4% in Community and Personal Service Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Lilydale and Mount Evelyn were:
- A larger percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (20.1% compared to 18.4%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (23.8% compared to 22.3%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Labourers (6.5% compared to 7.8%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Professionals (21.5% compared to 22.6%)

The number of employed females in Lilydale increased by 418 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in Lilydale were for those employed as:
