Dominant groups

Analysis of the female service age groups of Wollongong in 2021 compared to Wombarra - Coledale - Scarborough - Clifton shows that there was a lower proportion of females in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a higher proportion of females in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 10.0% of the female population was aged between 0 and 17, and 25.9% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 22.8% and 23.7% respectively for Wombarra - Coledale - Scarborough - Clifton.

The major differences between the female age structure of Wollongong and Wombarra - Coledale - Scarborough - Clifton were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (22.8% compared to 9.6%)
  • A larger percentage of 'Tertiary education & independence' (16.3% compared to 7.3%)
