Dominant groups
Analysis of the year of arrival for the overseas born Italian speaking population of Wollongong City Council in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a larger proportion of people who arrived before 2010, and a smaller proportion of recent overseas arrivals (those who arrived between 2016 and 2021).
Overall, 90.4% of the overseas born Italian speaking population arrived before 2010, and 1.5% arrived during or after 2016, compared with 82.9% and 6.3% respectively for Regional NSW.
The major differences between the year of arrival data of the Italian speaking population of Wollongong City and Regional NSW were:
