Analysis of the household/family types of children aged 0 to 4 years in Wollongong City Council in 2021 compared to the total population in Wollongong City Council, shows that there was a higher proportion of children aged 0 to 4 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 83.8% of children aged 0 to 4 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 11.9% were in one-parent families, compared with 47.0% and 12.7% respectively for the total population in Wollongong City Council.
There was a lower proportion of children aged 0 to 4 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children.
