Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Wodonga in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,494 people or 16.9%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (2,404 people or 11.6%)
  • Retail Trade (2,242 people or 10.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 8,140 people in total or 39.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional VIC employed 16.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 6.3% in Public Administration and Safety; and 9.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Wodonga and Regional VIC were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (11.6% compared to 6.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (9.8% compared to 7.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (10.8% compared to 9.5%)
