Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the population born in China in City of Whittlesea in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (483 people or 22.7%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (336 people or 15.8%)
- Labourers (251 people or 11.8%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,070 people in total or 50.4% of the employed population born in China.
In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 31.1% in Professionals; 10.0% in Technicians and Trades Workers; and 7.7% in Labourers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population born in China in the City of Whittlesea and Greater Melbourne were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (15.8% compared to 10.0%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Labourers (11.8% compared to 7.7%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Professionals (22.7% compared to 31.1%)
