Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Growth North in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,247 people or 17.9%)
  • Construction (1,289 people or 10.3%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (1,220 people or 9.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,756 people in total or 38.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Northern Melbourne Region employed 14.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.0% in Construction; and 5.7% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Growth North and Northern Melbourne Region were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (9.7% compared to 5.7%)
