Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Rural Balance in 2021 compared to Mernda shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 39.2% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.1% were one-parent families, compared with 48.4% and 13.3% respectively for Mernda.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 12.5% compared to 14.0% in Mernda while the proportion of couples without children was 29.0% compared to 19.2% in Mernda.
