Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the City of Whittlesea in 2021 compared to Rural Balance shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 41.2% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 12.6% were one-parent families, compared with 39.2% and 8.1% respectively for Rural Balance.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 17.5% compared to 12.5% in Rural Balance while the proportion of couples without children was 21.3% compared to 29.0% in Rural Balance.
