Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Whitehorse in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (12,183 people or 14.6%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (9,780 people or 11.7%)
  • Education and Training (8,573 people or 10.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 30,536 people in total or 36.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Box Hill employed 15.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.4% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 7.4% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Whitehorse and Box Hill were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in education and training (10.3% compared to 7.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (11.7% compared to 10.4%)
