Dominant groups
Analysis of the unpaid child care provided by the Arabic speaking population in the City of West Torrens in 2021 compared to Greater Adelaide shows that there was a similar proportion of persons who provided unpaid child care either to their own or to other children. Overall, 34.6% of the Arabic speaking population provided unpaid child care, compared with 34.7% for Greater Adelaide.
The major differences between the share of the Arabic speaking population providing unpaid child care in the City of West Torrens and Greater Adelaide were:
- A larger percentage who provided unpaid childcare for own child/ren (30.3% compared to 27.9%)
- A larger percentage who did not provide care for children (65.4% compared to 63.5%)
