Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Wellington Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,470 females or 26.2%)
  • Education and Training (1,293 females or 13.7%)
  • Retail Trade (1,043 females or 11.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,806 females in total or 51.0% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Gippsland Region employed 26.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.2% in Education and Training; and 11.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Wellington Shire and Gippsland Region were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (8.0% compared to 5.2%)
