Educational Qualifications relate to education outside of primary and secondary school and are one of the most important indicators of socio-economic status. Dominant groups
Analysis of the qualifications of the female population in East Metropolitan Region in 2021 compared to Western Australia shows that there was a lower proportion of females holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a higher proportion of females with no formal qualifications.
Overall, 51.3% of the female population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 40.6% had no qualifications, compared with 53.4% and 37.9% respectively for Western Australia.
The major differences between qualifications held by the female population of East Metropolitan Region and Western Australia were:
- A larger percentage of females with No qualifications (40.6% compared to 37.9%)
- A larger percentage of females with Vocational qualifications (17.2% compared to 16.2%)
- A smaller percentage of females with Bachelor or Higher degrees (23.6% compared to 26.7%)
Emerging groups
The largest changes in the qualifications of the female population in East Metropolitan Region between 2016 and 2021 were in those with:
- Bachelor or Higher degrees (+13,702 females)
- Vocational qualifications (+9,123 females)
- Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (+3,579 females)
- No qualifications (-752 females)
