Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Butler in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,857 people or 14.4%)
  • Construction (3,241 people or 12.1%)
  • Retail Trade (2,785 people or 10.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 9,883 people in total or 36.8% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Mount Lawley employed 14.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 7.1% in Construction; and 8.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Butler and Mount Lawley were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (12.1% compared to 7.1%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in mining (8.8% compared to 5.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (10.4% compared to 8.5%)
