Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in West Swan in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,763 people or 13.8%)
  • Retail Trade (2,875 people or 10.6%)
  • Construction (2,457 people or 9.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 9,095 people in total or 33.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional WA employed 11.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.3% in Retail Trade; and 8.5% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of West Swan and Regional WA were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (13.8% compared to 11.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (10.6% compared to 8.3%)
