Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Cottesloe in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,795 people or 17.5%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (3,215 people or 14.9%)
  • Education and Training (2,192 people or 10.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 9,202 people in total or 42.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional WA employed 11.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 3.0% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 8.6% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Cottesloe and Regional WA were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (14.9% compared to 3.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (17.5% compared to 11.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (1.1% compared to 9.0%)
