Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Collie-Preston in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (2,490 people or 12.2%)
- Construction (2,146 people or 10.5%)
- Mining (2,111 people or 10.3%)
In combination, these three industries employed 6,747 people in total or 33.0% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Regional WA employed 11.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.5% in Construction; and 11.3% in Mining.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Collie-Preston and Regional WA were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (8.7% compared to 5.2%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (10.5% compared to 8.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in electricity, gas, water and waste services (2.9% compared to 1.4%)

- Mining (+413 persons)
- Construction (+211 persons)
- Accommodation and Food Services (+166 persons)
