Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Kalgoorlie in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,293 females or 16.2%)
  • Mining (1,153 females or 14.4%)
  • Education and Training (1,048 females or 13.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,494 females in total or 43.7% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Regional WA employed 20.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 4.4% in Mining; and 14.5% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Kalgoorlie and Regional WA were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in mining (14.4% compared to 4.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (0.4% compared to 5.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (16.2% compared to 20.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in education and training (13.1% compared to 14.5%)
