Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in West Swan in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (2,065 males or 14.4%)
  • Mining (1,374 males or 9.6%)
  • Manufacturing (1,368 males or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,807 males in total or 33.5% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Regional WA employed 13.7% in Construction; 17.3% in Mining; and 7.1% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of West Swan and Regional WA were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (9.4% compared to 6.2%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in retail trade (8.7% compared to 5.6%)
