Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rockingham in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,194 people or 12.8%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (1,962 people or 11.4%)
  • Construction (1,797 people or 10.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,953 people in total or 34.6% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Belmont employed 12.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 5.7% in Public Administration and Safety; and 8.1% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rockingham and Belmont were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (11.4% compared to 5.7%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (8.0% compared to 4.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (3.9% compared to 7.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (4.1% compared to 6.6%)
