Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Swan Hills in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,362 females or 20.3%)
  • Education and Training (1,394 females or 12.0%)
  • Retail Trade (1,389 females or 11.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,145 females in total or 44.2% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Belmont employed 21.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.8% in Education and Training; and 9.4% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Swan Hills and Belmont were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in retail trade (11.9% compared to 9.4%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (12.0% compared to 9.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (4.5% compared to 7.3%)
