Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Bunbury in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,321 people or 16.3%)
  • Construction (2,149 people or 10.6%)
  • Retail Trade (2,067 people or 10.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 7,537 people in total or 37.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Belmont employed 12.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.1% in Construction; and 8.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Bunbury and Belmont were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (16.3% compared to 12.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (8.2% compared to 4.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (3.5% compared to 7.8%)
