Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Southern River in 2021 compared to East Metropolitan Region shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 45.4% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 11.5% were one-parent families, compared with 31.5% and 11.4% respectively for East Metropolitan Region.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 16.0% compared to 24.0% in East Metropolitan Region while the proportion of couples without children was 21.0% compared to 24.8% in East Metropolitan Region.
