Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Kalgoorlie in 2021 compared to Warren-Blackwood shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 20.8% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 9.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.4% and 23.6% respectively for Warren-Blackwood.
The major differences between the age structure of Kalgoorlie and Warren-Blackwood were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (8.4% compared to 3.8%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (6.9% compared to 3.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (2.6% compared to 6.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (3.8% compared to 7.8%)

From 2016 to 2021, Kalgoorlie's population decreased by 316 people (0.8%). This represents an average annual population change of -0.17% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 60 to 64 (+409 persons)
- 0 to 4 (-384 persons)
- 30 to 34 (-351 persons)
- 70 to 74 (+290 persons)
