Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Tweed Heads in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (668 people or 18.7%)
  • Construction (416 people or 11.7%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (379 people or 10.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,463 people in total or 41.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Tweed Shire employed 17.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.8% in Construction; and 9.5% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Tweed Heads and Tweed Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (18.7% compared to 17.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (10.6% compared to 9.5%)
