Analysis of the car ownership of the households with recent arrivals in Tweed Shire Council in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that 95.6% of recent arrivals were in households who owned at least one car and 2.5% were not, compared with 92.9% and 5.3% respectively in Regional NSW.
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a smaller proportion who owned just one car, a larger proportion who owned two cars, and a larger proportion who owned three cars or more.
Overall, 32.6% of recent arrivals were in households who owned one car, 42.8% owned two cars, and 20.2% owned three cars or more, compared with 36.8%, 37.5% and 18.5% respectively for Regional NSW.
