Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the City of Townsville compared to the City of Townsville shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 4.4% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.9% for the City of Townsville.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Division 6 and the City of Townsville were:
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (42.1% compared to 51.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (8.0% compared to 9.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 20 to 59 (1.9% compared to 3.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (11.5% compared to 12.8%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2006 and 2021 in Division 6 were in the age groups:
- 10 to 19 (+102 persons)
- 20 to 59 (+82 persons)
