Analysis of the unpaid child care provided by the population in Miranda in 2021 compared to Sutherland Shire shows that there was a lower proportion of people who provided unpaid child care either to their own or to other children. Overall, 26.3% of the population provided unpaid child care, compared with 28.4% for Sutherland Shire.
The major difference between the share of the population providing unpaid child care in Miranda and Sutherland Shire was:
- A smaller percentage who provided unpaid childcare for own child/ren (21.7% compared to 22.9%)

The number of people who provided unpaid child care for their own and/or other people's children in Miranda increased by 383 between 2011 and 2021.
The largest changes in the number of people performing unpaid child care in Miranda, between 2011 and 2021 were those who:
- No unpaid child care provided (+2,054 persons)
- Cared for own child/ren (+787 persons)
- Cared for other child/ren (-359 persons)
