Dominant groups
Analysis of the religious affiliation of the population of Miranda in 2021 compared to Yowie Bay shows that there was a lower proportion of people who professed a religion and a higher proportion who stated they had no religion.
Overall, 60.7% of the population nominated a religion, and 33.2% said they had no religion, compared with 65.5% and 31.7% respectively for Yowie Bay.
The largest single religion in Miranda was Western (Roman) Catholic, with 26.3% of the population or 4,714 people as adherents.
The major differences between the religious affiliation for the population of Miranda and Yowie Bay were:
- A larger percentage who nominated Islam (1.5% compared to 0.0%)
- A larger percentage who nominated Buddhism (2.1% compared to 0.8%)
- A smaller percentage who nominated Anglican (13.6% compared to 18.5%)
