Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Sutherland in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (1,974 people or 30.6%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (973 people or 15.1%)
- Managers (839 people or 13.0%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 3,786 people in total or 58.7% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Jannali employed 29.3% in Professionals; 15.7% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 16.8% in Managers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Sutherland and Jannali were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (11.3% compared to 9.7%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (30.6% compared to 29.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Managers (13.0% compared to 16.8%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed people in Sutherland increased by 596 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2016 and 2021 in Sutherland were for those employed as:
- Professionals (+392 persons)
- Managers (+159 persons)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+72 persons)
- Labourers (+66 persons)
