When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Bangor in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Education and Training (352 people or 12.7%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (316 people or 11.4%)
- Construction (281 people or 10.2%)
In combination, these three industries employed 949 people in total or 34.3% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Miranda employed 8.2% in Education and Training; 14.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.4% in Construction.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Bangor and Miranda were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in education and training (12.7% compared to 8.2%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (5.8% compared to 4.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (11.4% compared to 14.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in retail trade (8.7% compared to 9.9%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed people in Bangor decreased by 180 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest change in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Bangor was for those employed in:
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (-63 persons)
