More Como male residents worked in construction than any other industry in 2021.

This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Como in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (170 males or 16.0%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (150 males or 14.1%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (105 males or 9.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 425 males in total or 40.1% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Kurnell employed 29.7% in Construction; 5.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 1.8% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Como and Kurnell were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (14.1% compared to 5.3%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (9.9% compared to 1.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (16.0% compared to 29.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in manufacturing (4.4% compared to 8.6%)
