Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Sutherland in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (906 people or 14.1%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (765 people or 11.9%)
  • Education and Training (677 people or 10.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,348 people in total or 36.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Bangor employed 11.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 12.7% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Sutherland and Bangor were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (14.1% compared to 11.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (11.9% compared to 9.8%)
