Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Cronulla in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,259 people or 12.7%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,195 people or 12.1%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,024 people or 10.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,478 people in total or 35.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Grays Point employed 12.4% in Construction; 14.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.4% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Cronulla and Grays Point were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (5.7% compared to 4.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (9.6% compared to 12.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (12.1% compared to 14.2%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Cronulla decreased by 298 between 2016 and 2021.

  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (-146 persons)
