Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of males in Sutherland Shire Council compared to Illawong shows that there was a similar proportion of males who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 4.1% of the male population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.2% for Illawong.

The major differences in the male age groups reporting a need for assistance in Sutherland Shire and Illawong were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 60 to 64 (3.3% compared to 1.0%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 5 to 9 (4.5% compared to 2.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 85 and over (39.0% compared to 43.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 65 to 69 (4.5% compared to 6.6%)
