In 2021, there were more Southern Asian languages speakers working as professionals in the City of Stonnington than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the Southern Asian languages speaking resident population in City of Stonnington in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (880 people or 40.7%)
  • Managers (256 people or 11.8%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (203 people or 9.4%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,339 people in total or 61.9% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Victoria employed 28.6% in Professionals; 9.7% in Managers; and 10.0% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the Southern Asian languages speaking population of the City of Stonnington and Victoria were:

  • A larger percentage of people employed as Professionals (40.7% compared to 28.6%)
  • A larger percentage of people employed as Managers (11.8% compared to 9.7%)

The largest changes in the occupations of Southern Asian languages speaking residents between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Stonnington were for those employed as:
