Planning area 2's occupation statistics quantify the occupations in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the economic base and employment opportunities available in the area, education levels, and the working and social aspirations of the population. When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating Planning area 2's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Planning area 2 in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (350 females or 25.7%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (296 females or 21.7%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (249 females or 18.3%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 895 females in total or 65.6% of the employed female resident population.
In comparison, Regional NSW employed 24.2% in Professionals; 19.5% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 19.2% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Planning area 2 and Regional NSW were:
- A larger percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (21.7% compared to 19.5%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Professionals (25.7% compared to 24.2%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Sales Workers (12.2% compared to 11.0%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (0.4% compared to 1.4%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed females in Planning area 2 increased by 203 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in Planning area 2 were for those employed as:
- Professionals (+90 females)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+61 females)
- Managers (+53 females)
