More Planning area 2 female residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Planning area 2 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (354 females or 26.0%)
  • Education and Training (206 females or 15.1%)
  • Retail Trade (156 females or 11.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 716 females in total or 52.5% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Nowra - Bomaderry Structure Plan area employed 29.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.4% in Education and Training; and 13.9% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Planning area 2 and Nowra - Bomaderry Structure Plan area were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (15.1% compared to 11.4%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (5.2% compared to 3.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (26.0% compared to 29.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in retail trade (11.4% compared to 13.9%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Planning area 2 increased by 431 between 2006 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2006 and 2021 in Planning area 2 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+179 females)
  • Education and Training (+106 females)
  • Public Administration and Safety (+64 females)
