The Range's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in The Range in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (402 females or 31.6%)
  • Education and Training (237 females or 18.6%)
  • Retail Trade (115 females or 9.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 754 females in total or 59.2% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Rockhampton employed 28.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 15.2% in Education and Training; and 11.6% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of The Range and Rockhampton were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (18.6% compared to 15.2%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (31.6% compared to 28.6%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (5.7% compared to 3.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in retail trade (9.0% compared to 11.6%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in The Range increased by 176 between 2016 and 2021.

There were no major differences in The Range between 2016 and 2021.
