Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by people aged 35 to 54 years in Rockhampton Regional Council in 2021 compared to Queensland shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 81.5% of people aged 35 to 54 years spoke English only, and 10.0% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 77.7% and 16.0% respectively for Queensland.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by people aged 35 to 54 years in Rockhampton Regional Council was Tagalog, with 0.9% of the population, or 191 people speaking this language at home.
