Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Wider Darwin in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (9,236 males or 24.2%)
- Professionals (6,155 males or 16.1%)
- Managers (5,328 males or 13.9%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 20,719 males in total or 54.2% of the employed male resident population.
In comparison, Big Rivers employed 22.4% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 13.4% in Professionals; and 14.9% in Managers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Wider Darwin and Big Rivers were:
- A larger percentage of males employed as Professionals (16.1% compared to 13.4%)
- A larger percentage of males employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (7.0% compared to 4.3%)
