Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wider Darwin in 2016 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Public Administration and Safety (13,309 people or 18.5%)
- Construction (8,569 people or 11.9%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (6,780 people or 9.4%)
In combination, these three industries employed 28,658 people in total or 39.9% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Northern Territory employed 18.1% in Public Administration and Safety; 10.1% in Construction; and 11.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Wider Darwin and Northern Territory were:
