Analysis of the car ownership of the households in Barkly Regional Council LGA in 2021 compared to the City of Palmerston LGA shows that 63.9% of the households owned at least one car, while 25.0% did not, compared with 86.6% and 4.2% respectively in the City of Palmerston LGA.
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion who owned just one car; a smaller proportion who owned two cars; and a smaller proportion who owned three cars or more.
Overall, 41.5% of the households owned one car; 15.8% owned two cars; and 6.5% owned three cars or more, compared with 29.2%; 39.7% and 17.7% respectively for the City of Palmerston LGA.
