Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Limestone Coast region in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (5,517 people or 17.5%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,952 people or 12.5%)
  • Manufacturing (3,510 people or 11.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 12,979 people in total or 41.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional SA employed 14.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 13.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.0% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Limestone Coast region and Regional SA were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (17.5% compared to 14.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (11.1% compared to 9.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in mining (0.5% compared to 2.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in administrative and support services (2.5% compared to 3.5%)

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+700 persons)
  • Construction (+403 persons)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+221 persons)
  • Retail Trade (-208 persons)
