Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Queanbeyan in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Public Administration and Safety (364 males or 20.1%)
  • Construction (324 males or 17.9%)
  • Retail Trade (158 males or 8.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 846 males in total or 46.7% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Palerang Eastern Areas employed 12.5% in Public Administration and Safety; 19.5% in Construction; and 2.8% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Queanbeyan and Palerang Eastern Areas were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in public administration and safety (20.1% compared to 12.5%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in retail trade (8.7% compared to 2.8%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (6.3% compared to 2.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (0.3% compared to 19.5%)
