The size of the City of Perth's labour force in low income households in 2021 was 892, of which 464 were employed part-time and 96 were full time workers.
Analysis of the employment status of people in low income households (as a percentage of the labour force) in the City of Perth in 2021 compared to City of Adelaide shows that there was a higher proportion of people in low income households in employment, and a lower proportion unemployed. Overall, 67.9% of the labour force was employed, and 32.1% unemployed, compared with 66.2% and 33.8% respectively for City of Adelaide.
Analysis of the labour force participation rate of people in low income households in the City of Perth in 2021 shows that there was a higher proportion in the labour force (36.8%) compared with City of Adelaide (35.4%).
Between 2016 and 2021, the number of people in low income households employed in the City of Perth showed a decrease of 149, and the number unemployed showed an increase of 71. In the same period, the number of people in low income households in the labour force showed a decrease of 326 or 26.8%.
