Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population in City of Parramatta in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (134 people or 18.8%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (125 people or 17.6%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (105 people or 14.7%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 364 people in total or 51.1% of the employed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population.
The major differences between the occupations held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of the City of Parramatta and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander of Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (17.6% compared to 13.9%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Professionals (18.8% compared to 16.6%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Labourers (9.0% compared to 11.2%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Sales Workers (7.0% compared to 8.4%)
